Actually it was Slade who finally got a chance to meet with his favorite NHL player and all around good guy Alexander Ovechkin. To Slade, Alex looked larger than life and hence the shocked look on Slade’s face. Slade still has the autographed stick which was also autographed by Olaf Kolzig. In fact most of the Washington Capital players were very nice. We tried to have Capitals enforcer (aka goon in chief) Donald Broshear’s autograph, but he walked right past us like we didn’t exist.
